Wednesday, June 30, 2010

This morning you are off to breakfast in one of the most picturesque fishing villages
along the Eastern seaboard- PEGGY’S COVE! The restaurant overlooks the lighthouse
which sits on top of wave washed rocks. While it still serves as a beacon for seafarers,
it also serves as Canada’s only post office in a lighthouse. The tiny harbor below the
lighthouse is a masterpiece of seasoned fish sheds and colorful fishing boats, making
it one of the most photographed places in Canada. You will have time to explore this
working fishing village and browse through the craft and gift stores. Return to the
historic port city and the capital of Nova Scotia, Halifax for a guided tour. This tour
features the important sights from Halifax’s early beginnings as a colonial fort to its
present role as an international meeting site and the economic centre for the Atlantic
Provinces. Hear stories of Halifax during the war years, including the Halifax Explosion
and the city’s role in the recovery operations after the Titanic disaster. The tour will
include the waterfront, historic downtown, St. Paul’s Church, the universities,
shopping and residential areas as well as visits to the Citadel National Historic Site
and the Victorian Public Gardens. The afternoon is at leisure. Then this evening, we
will all join each other for dinner and a performance of the Nova Scotia International
Tattoo.

fascinating museum. We will also have dinner in the evening (included in the tour).

Cape Breton’s most famous resident, Alexander Graham Bell, once said , “I have

Andes, the Alps and the Highlands of Scotland, but for simple beauty, Cape Breton
outrivals them all, “Today you will discover first hand why Conde Nast magazine
readers rated Cape Breton one of the top ten most beautiful islands in the world!
Travel the 186 mile route that makes up the famous Cabot Trail. As you learn about the
history of this beautiful island, have your camera ready for the spectacular photo
stops. You will travel through the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, where the

the home of cousins of Montgomery’s grandfather. Growing up nearby, she came to
know her cousins’ farm through her explorations of the surrounding woodlands and
places she discovered. Prince Edward Island National Park is renowned for its red
sandstone cliffs, fine white sand beaches and rolling sand dunes. Enjoy a Maritime
