Depart Easton (OLD Lowes, Easton bypass)
Arrive in Alexandria, VA to pick up our step on guide.
We will arrive in Mount Vernon. Upon our arrival to the Ford Orientation Center, we will
enjoy a 20-minute action-adventure movie, We Fight to be Free ,which is shown in a
pair of luxury theatres. The film depicts a heroic and charismatic Washington at pivotal
moments in his life.
We will meet our Mount Vernon Docent who will take us on our walking tour around the
grounds and at significant stops throughout the estate. They will give us a broad
overview of General Washington’s accomplishments, character, and vision through the
estate he created here at Mount Vernon. It culminates in a private wreath laying at
General Washington’s Tomb.
Your tour will conclude at the line to the Mansion.
Enjoy a 3-course lunch at the Mount Vernon Inn with a hearty helping of colonial charm
served up by wait persons in period costume.
Enjoy the afternoon on your own touring the gardens and grounds as well as the gift
shops. Or  take advantage of the fabulous new Donald W. Reynolds Museum and
Education Center.  By exploring 25 galleries and theaters, visitors will learn about
Washington’s exceptional life and accomplishments through interactive displays, a
major movie, short films produced by The History Channel, and high-tech, immersive
experiences. Three life-size models created by a forensic anthropologist and a team of
interdisciplinary experts will depict Washington as never before seen at three
significant stages of his life-including as a land surveying teenager-which will dispel
the elder statesman icon and encourage people to think about Washington in a new
way: an incomparable American hero who evolved from a young man of modest
means into this country’s first and greatest president.
Depart Mount Vernon and make the short drive to Old Town Alexandria where you will
have some free time to browse the antique and specialty shops and boutiques that give
Alexandria it’s quaint, small-town feel. You’ll understand why George Washington
chose to live near this once-thriving seaport, years before he chose the site for the
nation’s capital.
